Hey Mamas,
I'm Bridie, a Registered Midwife and Mother myself. I know firsthand how painful and debilitating mastitis can be. After experiencing recurrent mastitis, I struggled to find a bra that provided the right balance of support, comfort, and relief. I wanted my breastfeeding journey to continue, but felt defeated and broken every time I endured mastitis. I desperately wanted to avoid another round of antibiotics and find a way to heal.
One of the biggest challenges I faced while trying to recover from mastitis was the physical pain. I noticed traditional nursing bras were often too restrictive or incorrectly fitting, yet going bra-free felt equally painful and unsupportive.
I discovered some relief when I wore a tubular bandage over my breasts, however this became impractical, indiscreet, itchy and frayed threads emerged after washing.
My mission was to find a solution that not only relieves pain associated with mastitis, but also empowers mothers to continue their breastfeeding journey with comfort and confidence.
So The Breast Rest Bra was developed, with my dream to support mothers to be as comfortable as possible when mastitis does strike. This bra is designed to:
- Give firm, consistent but non-restrictive support. The balance of soft yet gentle compression is designed prevent further fluid accumulation and enhance circulation.
- Provide natural pain relief when wearing. I know that mothers need pain relieving solutions in order to continue feeding (if desired) and get on with their day.
- CausemMinimal irritation, by using Organic cotton only. This not only prevents moisture buildup but can reduce the risk of fungal infections.
- Be worn without bulk or visibility thanks to a thin, seamless design
- Be removed entirely if/when breastfeeding to help stimulate milk flow and promote circulation to the breasts. Bras, including some nursing bras, can often compress milk ducts when worn during feeds, leading to clogged ducts and inflammation.
I believe that every mother deserves a product that supports healing, rest and comfort. It is my wish for all mothers to have the education and support they need in order to continue their breast feeding journey for as long as they desire.
